Evaporative coolers range from small mobile units which cool one room up to large units that can cool a whole house. They consist of a fan or blower that draws in outside air and passes it through a wet filter. As hot dry air moves through the filter, water evaporates, cooling the air. The cool air is then blown through the room or house.
Evaporative cooling systems need more love and care than refrigerated systems as they are exposed to a lot more factors, such as water continually circulating whilst in use. They also suck in other contaminates such as leaves, dust, limescale and calcium can also build up on not just be washed off.
The wet filter pads capture the dust.and scale build up just the same as if you wipe a dusty table with a damp cloth- the dust just sticks to the cloth. Therefore, they need thorough cleaning or replacing for optimum performance.
Also, all the electrical components are subjected to moisture that could cause them to fail at any time.
All these factors alone suggest regular maintenance to keep filter pads cleaner and all moving parts lubricated. Servicing also allows us to assist in foreseeing anything that might need replacing, helping eliminate break downs when you need cooling the most.
